CH2M Wastewater Mechanic - Allentown, PA in Allentown, Pennsylvania

This is a wastewater Mechanic role working in a wastewater facility.

Target Zero Safety

  • Champion and enforce safety rules for staff and subcontractors

  • Practice all safety rules

  • Work with Project Safety Team Leader (PSTL) and Regional Safety Coordinator to facilitate and maintain records as needed

  • Attend weekly safety meetings with site safety team

  • Complete Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) as needed

  • Facilitate weekly safety tailgates as needed

  • Conduct brief safety moments at the start of any Company meeting as needed

  • Expected to actively participate in a positive safety culture. Assist to ensure all discussions and training is interactive

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist to ensure all discussions and training is interactive

  • Assist as directed in preparation of annual budgets/toolkit as it relates to safety equipment, PPE and training needs

  • Assist in tracking all costs and expenditures on WO’s

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all CH2M staff, clients, vendors, and subcontractors

  • Maintain project filing systems including project Sharepoint

  • Maintain working knowledge of computer systems (i.e. Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Other company applications such as My Time, ETS, AP Workflow, Oracle etc.)

  • Coordinate with contractors to successfully complete tasks on schedule

  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment

  • Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions; replaces packing in pumps or valves; replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tunes engines, sets valve clearance, cleans, and adjusts regulators

  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences

  • Installs and sets up new equipment

  • Cleans out pipes and performs other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required

  • Uses gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld

  • Assists in keeping maintenance records within MC

  • Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures

  • Supervise maintenance work staff

  • Maintain clean work environment throughout plant

  • Clean up following completion of WO

  • General housekeeping

  • Learns and gains skills involving the maintenance of equipment and servicing work in the plant

  • Perform and carry out WO’s as assigned

  • Understand plant operations and process

  • Observes and reports abnormalities to supervisor

  • Maintain open communication with operations regarding equipment issues

  • Customer service- maintain professional relationship with all haulers and hauler companies

  • Foster an environment of teamwork to ensure the team can effectively meet and exceed their goals

  • Perform other duties as required

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be provided. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to read blueprints; have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb and work off of a ladder or scaffold; use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts; work in confined spaces and wear and use appropriate safety equipment.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience as a mechanic in the industrial field

  • High school diploma and/or equivalent GED

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by CH2M's auto insurer

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • One (1) year of experience as a mechanic in a wastewater facility
