As a Water Distribution Modeling Engineer, each day, you will be an important team member as you assist in federal and municipal water resources projects by developing and applying water distribution and system operations models, utilizing GIS to present results, developing spreadsheets to interpret model results, and reporting model results. Join our team and help us lay the foundation for human progress. As a Water Distribution Modeling Engineer, job responsibilities will include:

  • Performing engineering activities for water distribution including constructing, calibrating, and optimizing pressurized and gravity hydraulic and hydrologic models, evaluating alternatives, and performing preliminary/detailed design.

  • Assisting with planning and design of potable water transmission systems.

  • Assisting with design and planning for water distribution and stormwater conveyance projects including pump design, hydraulics and modeling.

  • Mathematical modeling: model development, application, quality control/ quality assurance, model results interpretation and presentation of results.

  • Engaging in model integration and process development, data research, collection and compilation efforts.

  • Conducting hydrologic, operations, systems and environmental analyses.

  • Work may also include a variety of other water infrastructure, including treatment and facilities design, utilities assessments and design.

  • Preparing models, engineering specifications, data sheets, sketches, drawings and performing calculations in support of engineering activities.

  • Conducting field investigations to obtain system data in support of modeling efforts.

  • Learning and growing towards expertise regarding data collection equipment and methodologies.

  • Independently evaluating the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals.

Work requires full days working independently in the field, coordinating with CH2M and municipal staff.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years competency in working with municipal clients in engineering roles

  • Ability to demonstrate Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water distribution systems

  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to understand, prepare, edit and coordinate field and modeling reports, studies, and calculations

  • Ability to demonstrate skill in industry-standard modeling, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS and graphics/CAD software

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline

  • Professional Engineering license in Georgia or ability to obtain reciprocity

  • Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills

  • Ability to demonstrate possession of an outgoing and positive attitude, dependablity and ability meet all assigned project deadlines

  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills specifically related to writing and presentations

  • Ability to demonstrate adeptness at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams

  • Ability to demonstrate a willingness to take on leadership roles and management responsibilities for technical projects
