The Austin office is looking for a Travel Demand Forecaster to join the transportation planning group within the State & Local Governments client sector. The transportation planning group conducts studies with a focus on developing innovative solutions to current transportation challenges, within a multi-disciplinary and collaborative work environment. Main Responsibilities The Travel Demand Forecaster will direct and complete complex technical assignments, including: · Travel demand forecasting for urban transportation facilities, corridor studies, and traffic engineering analyses · Feasibility studies and alternatives analysis for planning and environmental projects · Work associated with DOT and local planning agencies involving different modeling techniques. · Work on travel demand forecasting efforts on planning and engineering projects by modifying, calibrating, and expanding existing models, or developing new forecasting techniques to meet the needs of the client. · Air quality conformity analyses, operational analyses, and corridor planning efforts
The minimum qualifications for this position are:· BS in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience developing forecasts · Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas · Project experience in commercially available travel demand modeling software such as Cube, TransCAD, EMME, VISUM. Extensive Microsoft Excel experience required. · Experience scripting in the commercially available travel demand modeling software. Candidate must have the ability to understand existing processes and how to modify and improve the model process to meet the needs of the client. · Experience estimating, designing, and applying complex, multimodal travel forecasting models and developing forecasts for various uses by the client. · Ability to explain model processes and results to both technical and non-technical audiences · Ability to lead tasks and work in a team environment · Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:· MS in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field· Model estimation experience with ALogit, Biogeme, or similar model estimation software
