CH2M Highway/Roadway Design Engineer - Bellevue, WA in Bellevue, Washington

As the Highway/Roadway Design Engineer in our Bellevue office you will have the chance to work on significant transportation projects of varying size in the Puget Sound region. Working with other team members, you will utilize your skills and lead design teams on transportation planning, design and construction in connection with a wide range of multi-disciplined projects. In this position you will be exposed to a wide-range of projects involving safety studies, multi-modal roadway planning, highway design, transit design, and construction. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with 8-12 years of related experience in preparing preliminary design, final design plans, specifications, and cost estimates along with a BSCE. Registration as a PE is required. This position also requires a technical design background in highway design and transportation engineering. Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D) is a plus. Our Roadway Design Engineers and Project Managers: • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from conceptual design to final design. This includes having a good working knowledge of the entire project life cycle. • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages • Have a strong working knowledge of roadway design software tools and be able to mentor and develop junior staff while providing valuable input into design Best Practices. • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans. • Have strong written and oral communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude • Lead and coordinate design activities between staff, subcontractors, and clients • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop recommendations for corrective action • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance • Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety and organization of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff • Assist in business development and proposal efforts • Maintain a close relationship with clients and track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
8-12 years of related experience in preparing preliminary design, final design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Registration as a PE
Technical design background in highway design and transportation engineering
