CH2M Civil/Structual Engineer in Cape Canaveral, Florida
Helping our communities stay safely on the move. CH2M’s Cape Canaveral, Florida office is looking for a highly motivated civil/structural engineer to support port-related projects. These projects will primarily support senior level engineers to complete design, engineering report, construction, permit and contract support services.

Structural Engineers Roles and Responsibilities:
• Perform a wide variety of routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria • Support client requests and onsite activities as well as conceptual and detailed designs for port related projects • Assist in the preparation of plans and specifications, engineering reports, engineer’s cost estimates, quantity take-offs • Assist in the preparation of technical documents and reports • Perform structural analyses and calculations using industry software; such as MathCAD, STAAD, RAM, Visual Analysis • Read, interpret, and apply codes and standards to structural design; such as ASTM, IBC, ACI, AISC, etc. • Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities, as required • Review construction submittals for conformance to contract and design documents • Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of engineering principles • Complete tasks assigned on time, within budget, and to high level of quality
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited civil engineering program with emphasis in structural engineering • 1-4 years of experience in the civil engineering field with an emphasis in structural engineering, Masters Degree in civil Engineering in Lieu of 1 year experience • Basic experience with structural analysis software (; such as MathCAD, STAAD, RAM, Visual Analysis, etc.) • Ability to read, interpret and apply codes and standards to structural design; such as ASTM, IBC, ACI, AISC, etc. • Basic understanding of steel, concrete, masonry • Fundamentals of Engineering (aka EIT) exam passed or ability to pass within 12 month of employment • Basic knowledge of CADD tools, such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD • Experience in Windows environment and software applications including Microsoft Office Suite
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Preferred Qualifications • M.S. or M.E. degree in Civil Engineering with Structural or Port emphasis from an ABET accredited engineering program • Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain Professional Engineering registration within 24 months of employment • Experience in structural design and analyses • Field Experience • Demonstrate time management and organizational skills • Possess high ethical values and strong sense of commitment to self-development, team work, and desire to work in a deadline driven team environment
