As a Mid-Level Roadway Engineer, you will work on exciting and engaging transportation infrastructure projects utilizing your skills to advance complex, multi-disciplinary projects and programs. You will work in a fast-paced team environment on a wide range of highway engineering and planning project assignments. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional, experienced in leading and mentoring roadway design teams in developing conceptual, preliminary and/or final transportation design plans. Qualified candidates will possess a BSCE and 6-10 years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of roadway design principles.   • Gain experience in many aspects of transportation design and planning potentially including roadway design, drainage design, traffic, permitting, ITS, signing and pavement marking

  • Lead and mentor junior transportation staff and work closely with senior leadership

  • Prepare technical studies and design documents

  • Develop and produce conceptual, preliminary and final roadway design drawings

  • Review roadway plans and engineering studies

  • Communicate well when interacting with team members, clients and project stakeholders

  • Coordinate with a wide range of technical disciplines

  • Work with and learn from some of the industry’s brightest engineers, technicians and planners

  • Have the opportunity to participate in CH2M’s Mentorship Program

  • Lead project task assignments

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related degree

  • Minimum of 6 years highway engineering experience

  • Skilled in using Microstation and Geopak (or other design software)

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel)

  • Illinois PE required (or quick ability to attain)

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • 6 to 10 years of experience working on Illinois Tollway and IDOT projects preferred

  • Working knowledge of Corridor Modeler is a bonus

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

  • Proven ability to work with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff

  • Demonstrated attributes of initiative, resourcefulness, commitment and successful manager of change
