Our Transportation Structural Engineer jobs provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging large-scale highway and bridge projects. Each day, you will have the opportunity to utilize your bridge design expertise and lead design tasks on challenging projects.
As a Structural Engineer/Manager in our Ohio Transportation Business Group, you will carry out and lead complex and advanced design of civil transportation structures, primarily bridges. Your role will be to provide day-to-day leadership and technical expertise. Your responsibilities will also include mentoring staff, as well as client relations, proposal writing, project delivery, and project management. You will serve as a point of contact for our various Ohio offices as you coordinate with CH2M bridge engineers throughout the country. As a proven engineer, you hold a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in Civil Engineering with a Structures emphasis preferred, with 15+ years of relevant experience including planning and design of new bridges and large transportation structures, as well as demonstrated project management skills. Bridge design experience within the state of Ohio is preferred but not required. You are a Professional Engineer who has remained current on bridge technologies and must have the ability to obtain an Ohio PE within 6 months of hire. You also have exceptional client-relationship and interpersonal skills, demonstrated success at working within project scope and budget, experience designing transportation structures on major highway/interchange improvements (design-build experience a plus), and the ability to play a leading role in statewide business development. You are active in professional and technical societies related to bridges and the transportation industry. Our Bridge Engineers/Managers: • Work as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of structural design for concrete, steel, and timber bridges and retaining walls • Develop designs, drawings, and specifications for various types of bridges and retaining wall structures • Prepare load rating calculations, develop bridge retrofit concepts, prepare cost estimates, and prepare Alternatives Evaluation Reports, including cost estimates and reports to determine economical solutions • Coordinate design activities and meetings between project staff, subcontractors, and CH2M Sr. Technologists • Assist in statewide business development and proposal efforts • Interact and support CH2M project teams throughout the country • Complete project design tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines • Take an interest in mentoring and growing junior and intermediate bridge engineers • Prepare budgets and schedules for design tasks • Have strong written and oral communication skills and a team-oriented attitude • Have experience or express interest in project management • Network and work effectively with bridge and highway engineers throughout CH2M and the entire transportation industry
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
15+ years of relevant experience including planning and design of new bridges and large transportation structures, as well as demonstrated project management skills
Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain an Ohio PE within 6 months
Demonstrated success at working within project scope and budget, experience designing transportation structures on major highway/interchange improvements (design-build experience a plus), and the ability to play a leading role in statewide business development
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Masters degree in Civil Engineering with a Structures emphasis
Bridge design experience within the state of Ohio
