CH2M Mid-level Roadway Design Engineer- Dallas, TX in Dallas, Texas
CH2M’s Dallas office is seeking a high energy, team player to join us as a Transportation Engineer. This opportunity is your chance to work on complex transportation projects that focus on traffic operations, transportation planning and roadway design for urban arterials and intersections, freeways, and corridor studies.
You should be a self-motivated professional with 4-8 years of related experience in preparing geometric plans, final design plans and specifications, cost estimates and bidding phase support in accordance with the Texas Department of Transportation. This position also requires a technical design background in at least one of the following areas: highway design, transportation engineering, utility coordination as well as familiarity with AASHTO and MUTCD standards. Knowledge of and experience using MicroStation, GeoPak, Corridor Modeler, and/or OpenRoads is a plus. Our ideal candidate is a positive self-starter with good written and oral communication skills as well as a desire to grow personally and professionally with each engineering job.
Responsibilities: • With support from senior engineers, perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design. This requires an understanding of the entire project life cycle. • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages. • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including plan and profile sheets, cross sections, traffic control, construction phasing, signing and signal plans, and roadway details. • May coordinate design activities and meetings between staff, subcontractors, and CH2M. • Support safety plan. • Assist in business development and proposal efforts. • Interact with CH2M project teams and client program level directors. • Complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines. • Achieve client expectations for quality, schedule and budget. • Set project team expectations. • Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety and organization of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff. • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance. • Identify schedule and cost variances; develop and implement recommendations for corrective action. • Maintain a close relationship with clients and track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or transportation engineering • A minimum of 4 years of experience in roadway design • Professional Engineer in Texas or another state. • Demonstrated success leading and working in a team environment
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Have obtained or able to obtain applicable TXDOT precertifications • Have a good working knowledge of highway design software tools. • Have good written and oral communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude. • Drainage experience for both closed and/or open systems is a plus. Experience using hydrologic and hydraulic models such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (Steady or unsteady flow), HY8, and/or Flowmaster is a plus.
