Work as a project engineer in support of the city of Fresno and have a hand in transforming tomorrow.

This position performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phase of equipment, systems, or processes. Specifications are prepared, and necessary subcontracts and requisitions are defined. The incumbent has thorough knowledge of own subject area or discipline and basic knowledge of others. He/she understands the objectives of the area and related regulatory and/or industry requirements and practices, and is building understanding of business trends and industry issues and challenges.Our Project Engineers:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria and competently performs conventional aspects of design engineering and analysis.

  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments.

  • Provide some technical guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.

  • Conduct wastewater conveyance evaluations including alternatives evaluations, optimization, cost analysis and preliminary/detailed design.

  • Perform drinking water or wastewater facility evaluations including treatment process optimization, cost analysis and process pilot studies, preliminary/detailed design, permitting, construction engineering services, and/or facilities startup.

  • Assist with planning and design of wastewater collection and potable water transmission systems.

  • Assist with design and planning for water and wastewater conveyance projects including pump design, hydraulics and modeling.

  • Have strong communication skills specifically related to writing and presentations.

  • Assist senior engineers on larger, more complex tasks.

  • Understand, edit and coordinate project specifications and drawings.

  • Are skilled in Microsoft Office programs, GIS and graphics/CAD software.

  • Support project Construction Management efforts.

  • Provide Project Management support.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • At least two years of experience as a project engineer

  • BS Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • MS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline

  • PE License

  • Outstanding oral communication skills
