ELECTRICAL ENGINEER-GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA
CH2M is seeking a full time Electrical Engineer to our growing team in Gainesville, FL. This position performs a variety of engineering work through all phases of infrastructure projects starting with conceptual design and concluding with the completion of record drawings. The engineer is responsible for selecting and sizing equipment and accessories, laying out electrical rooms and defining other electrical spaces, preparing construction drawings and specifications, supporting construction by responding to bidder questions, clarification requests, and reviewing shop drawings. Occasional site visits to meet with Owners and/or contractors are also likely. Works closely with other disciplines to coordinate process and other equipment needs with electrical design requirements.• Under general supervision, the individual competently performs all conventional aspects of design engineering and analysis.• Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.• May provide some technical guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.The challenge? As an Electrical Engineer for our Gainesville, FL office, you will work on the design and construction of a variety of water/wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment projects including: power supply and distribution, backup power generation, and motor control systems. You will be responsible to coordinate with other disciplines for the design of new or rehabilitated facilities, process equipment and systems; work on independent electrical tasks, and develop contract documents to implement the projects.
You should be a self-motivated professional with a BS in Electrical Engineering and at least 6 years of experience in electrical engineering in water/wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment projects including: medium and low voltage power distribution systems and backup power generation systems. Design and implementation experience should include; selection and layout of equipment, power distribution system load calculations, layout of interior and underground electrical distribution, grounding, and selection of variable frequency drives. You should be able to develop contract drawings, including: one line diagrams, control schematics, and develop and edit the associated equipment and construction specifications. A good working knowledge and familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and requirements, is required. Experience with ancillary systems (control systems, telephone, data, fire and security) is also desirable. You should be able to conduct site evaluations, perform start up and commissioning activities, review construction shop drawings for conformance with contract documents and answer Contractor’s requests for information. You should be capable of writing technical papers, memorandums and reports, and have a desire to grow both personally as well as professionally with each engineering opportunity.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license • At least six years of experience in electrical design related tasks including:-Design low and medium voltage power distribution systems for industrial facilities-Perform demand low, voltage droop, and short circuit calculations using the SKM Power Tools for Windows software suite-Design facility wiring and lighting for process equipment rooms and administrative spaces-Prepare electrical equipment and material specifications in CSI-50 Division format• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• Fluency in reading and interpreting industrial Process & Instrumentation Diagrams• Supervise design technicians in the creation of engineering drawings• Design facility wiring and lighting for blower, pump, and treatment equipment rooms, chemical rooms, finished administrative rooms and buildings, and outdoor basins and areas• Design motor controls for pumps and treatment process equipment• Engineering services during construction including: answering electrical contractor's technical questions; reviewing equipment submittals; inspecting electrical construction.• 10 years of experience
