CH2M Engineering Intern in Gainesville, Florida
CH2M’s Gainesville, Florida office is looking for a highly motivated engineering student to intern in their Engineering and Design Group. This position is for College/University students to gain experience related to their major or career goal.
The selected candidate must be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and will assist engineers with a variety of tasks on civil engineering projects including site development, water/wastewater facilities, conveyance projects, roads and highways, etc. This position will primarily support mid and senior level Civil Engineers to complete planning/study documents, preliminary design, detailed design, permitting documents, engineering reports. Each day, you will be an important team member as you collaborate in multi-discipline team environment in the evaluation, design, coordination, and execution of projects for our clients. Our Civil Engineering Interns: • Work under the supervision of senior level Civil Engineers • Participate in various types of administrative, engineering, science or technology projects and support utilizing basic principles and concepts • Perform a wide variety of routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. • Support conceptual and detailed designs for Multi-Discipline projects for civil/water/wastewater infrastructure • Learn the design and consulting side of engineering • Participate in face to face mentoring sessions • Interact/Coordinate with other disciplines such as architects, mechanical, structural, electrical and process engineering • Support design tasks related to: o Site development and layout o Stormwater and drainage design o Roadway and pavement design and evaluation o Grading design o Erosion and sedimentation control design o Site/facilities layout o Utilities and conveyance piping design • Complete tasks assigned on time and to high level of quality • Assist in the preparation of plans and specifications, engineering reports, engineer’s cost estimates, quantity take-offs • Assist in the preparation of technical documents and reports • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations and plans using MathCAD, Excel, AutoCAD, Microstation and other engineering software • Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of engineering principles
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Student in Junior standing entering Senior year pursuing a BS degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited civil engineering program • 3.33 GPA or higher • Familiarity with CADD tools, such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications

• Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) exam passed or scheduled to be taken • Student pursuing a Master degree in Civil Engineering
