The Herndon, Virginia office of CH2M is seeking an Electrical Resident Engineer for an electrical upgrade project on a large-scale potable water supply construction project for Fairfax Water. The project is focused on the replacement of existing electrical gear serving a 225 mgd advanced water treatment plant. Electrical modifications include replacement of select 120V motor controllers, several existing 480V motor control centers, numerous 5kV/480V transformers, multiple 5kV switchgear line-ups, nine 5kV finished water pump synchronous motor starters, two 34.5/5kV incoming power transformers, and two 34.5 kV pad mounted switches. One new emergency generator and 5kV duct bank will also be constructed under this project. This key position will work on an active water treatment plant, acting as the engineer’s onsite representative interfacing with the owner and contractor, and performing inspections as well as supervising engineer and owner inspectors. The desirable candidate will be a self-motivated professional with a proven track record of successfully leading owner, designer, contractor and CM staff on construction projects. This is a project hire position for a 3 to 4-year duration.

Our Electrical Resident Engineers:

• Serve as primary liaison with the client’s construction management, operations, and electrical staff and the general contractor • Lead and manage the onsite Construction Inspection, as well as coordinate with office design engineers to respond to clarifications, perform technical submittal reviews, assess any change orders and similar activities • Ensure the orderly, efficient and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with requirements specified in the contract documents • Perform onsite activities which may include construction coordination, inspection, field administration, procurement, and field engineering • Complete the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client, while simultaneously ensuring that CH2M’s Health Safety & Environment, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met

The minimum qualifications for this position are:• BS Degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum 8 years of plant experience in an electrical capacity; or a minimum 10 years of plant experience in an electrical capacity in lieu of the degree • Experience working on large water /wastewater plant projects that included high voltage electrical modifications • Working Knowledge of policies, procedures, specifications, practices associated with process plant infrastructure work for municipalities, with experience in electrical, water / wastewater disciplines • Experience with owner and contractor interactions • Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling • Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• PE in the state of Virginia or ability to obtain reciprocity • CCM certification • Excellent oral and written communication, organization and time management skills • Excellent team leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver results • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution and participating in diverse teams
