Support our Honolulu office and State and Local Governments sector by helping to develop and deliver our transportation and municipal water/wastewater/storm water client services.
Candidates should be self-¬motivated, detailed oriented, quality driven, and team¬ focused. Your responsibilities will include: • Direct communications with clients on technical design topics and project schedule/budget/scope • Leading project teams and communicating between diverse design disciplines • Developing and mentoring staff (locally and across the West region), and coordinating effective quality management processes for each project • Establishing long-¬term client relationships and supporting business development activities including serving as proposed project manager and/or design manager on competitive pursuits As a Project Manager, you will: • Lead project teams on planning, design and delivery of projects. • Assist or lead the investigation and review of technologies, equipment, and decision analysis. • Perform sophisticated and complicated designs and calculations in accordance with established standards and software. • Supervise, train, and mentor less experienced project managers, project engineers and designers. • Support procurement including supplier qualifications, bid reviews, process design requirements, review of design drawings and supplier documents, successful resolution of manufacturing discrepancies, support for installation, generation of as-¬built drawings, and onsite support. • Participate in the development of engineering studies and cost estimates. • Participate in the generation of proposals, scopes of work, schedules and budgets. • Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/ management of change, startup and commissioning, and trouble¬shooting. • Prepare detailed design milestones and schedules, staffing schedules and man¬ hour estimates, and budget management. • Prepare and/or supervise the development of engineering reports, studies, and calculations. • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations. • Pursue new work as proposed project manager and/or design manager on competitive pursuits, including positioning, proposing, and negotiating contracts.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline • Ten years working with State and municipal clients in engineering or project management roles • Ten years of experience in written and verbal communication of project plans and presentations • Experience with design of transportation and /or water/wastewater/water resources facilities and/or conveyance infrastructure • Experience leading and managing project teams on consulting projects • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and leading diverse teams • Experience in management of teams geographically separated • Professional Engineer in the State of Hawaii
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline • Experience in serving State and municipal clients involving a wide variety of planning, consulting, and design and construction services • Deep understanding of the business and political environment in the State of Hawaii and the Honolulu metropolitan area • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
