CH2M Licensed Resident Engineer, New York, NY in New York, New York
Our New York City office is seeking licensed engineers interested in relocating for key positions.
The positions will provide you with the opportunity to serve as the Resident Engineer for a large diameter urban water/sewer installation and the associated road reconstruction and traffic control in New York City. You should be a self-motivated, team-oriented professional with a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, a professional engineer license and have 5 or more years of experience on heavy construction projects. Our Resident Engineers:
• Carefully plan and manage the project, communicate exceptionally well with the project team, and work to mitigate or eliminate project risks that threaten schedule, budget, safety, or quality. • Act as the primary project interface with the client, designer, contractor, operation staff, and ongoing construction contracts as well as outside agencies/stakeholders. • Monitor the construction contractor’s operations for process conformance with the approved construction documents including but not limited to the project contract, specifications, quality control plan, safety plans, schedule, request for information (RFIs), change orders, pay requests, record drawings and contract closeout. • Actively manage and report on the status of the project schedule and budget. Monitor and document contract progress and make recommendations to engineer and client for contractor payments, change orders, and requests for information (RFIs). • Effectively lead project meetings with engineers, contractors, clients and stakeholders. • Conduct site meetings, coordinate and oversee field activities for testing and inspection reviews. • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management and performance. • Conduct constructability reviews and reports of project designs prior to construction. • Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractor, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project. • Demonstrate effective risk management and mitigation practices through proper risk identification, assessment, tracking and communication. • Play a role in client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, oral presentation, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline • 5 plus years’ “hands on” construction management/resident engineering experience • Professional Engineer License (PE) • Fluent in spoken and written English • Must be proficient in the use of computer to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling • Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• CCM certification • Proficient with web based construction document management platforms • Excellent team leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver results • Working knowledge of construction scheduling and document controls software • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong data analysis & technical problem solving skills
