As CH2M’s lead tunneler for the US Northeast - you will be focused on the management and delivery of underground projects and programs for many of CH2M’s most important clients across the transportation, water, wastewater and utility sectors; as well as leading and mentoring tunnel staff in the northeastern USA. You will support business development and business continuity with your technical expertise. You will use your experience in project delivery and your ability to both project manage design and deal well with people within the CH2M team and client organizations. The incumbent will be responsible for delivery of multiple small to large tunnel projects or tasks. Technical, financial, strategic, team and client/external stakeholder levels of complexity are typically above average for these projects. The candidate should demonstrate an understanding and application of the knowledge and competencies required of a project manager; the application of business development/project delivery processes; and will be familiar with most of the technologies and delivery methods underpinning complex tunnel and underground projects. In addition to managing tunneling projects, the candidate should be capable of managing multi-disciplinary projects for which tunneling is just one of a number of engineering disciplines required for delivery. The incumbent will also provide motivation and direction to project teams. You will be responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on projects, while helping to identify and pursue additional work and contracts with existing and new clients. Daily Tasks and Duties: • Delivering underground projects across the transportation, water/wastewater and utility sectors, including design-build projects. • Managing production of drawings and specifications for underground projects. • Providing technical guidance and leadership in the development of structural engineering solutions for underground projects. • Providing leadership and coordination to multi-discipline delivery teams. • Meeting and working with senior managers and stakeholders to deliver on the client’s goals. • Manageing projects in accordance with the contract requirements, driving profitability and building new business opportunities. • Providing technical support to business development and sales staff in their efforts to position for new opportunities and/or the preparation of proposals. • Mentoring and developing tunnel staff located within the US Northeast. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
20+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering discipline
Professional Engineer license (P.E.) in New York state or current P.E. in another state with the ability to obtain NY P.E. within 6 months of hire
Substantial project management and/or design management experience for small to large scale tunnel and underground projects.
Experience in delivery of underground projects at all phases, including feasibility/conceptual studies to detailed design.
Experience in delivering underground projects across the transportation, water/wastewater and utility sectors.
Experience with the delivery of Design-Build projects.
Demonstrated experience in maintaining complex client relationships
Ability and interest in leading, mentoring and training less experienced tunnel staff
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Extensive experience in managing the production of drawings and specs for underground projects.
Recognized expert in structural engineering for underground projects, capable of acting as the lead structural engineer for an underground project.
US Citizenship or Permanent US Resident required

Multi-disciplinary design management experience is preferred.
