CH2M Industrial Hygienist - Prudhoe Bay, AK in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska
The challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world’s oil and gas. At CH2M, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil industry. Our Industrial Hygienist job will provide you with the opportunity to work and live on the North Slope of Alaska on a rotational basis.
Each day, you will perform advanced professional work to support the development, implementation and maintenance of CH2M’s North Slope Industrial Hygiene Program. You should be a self-motivated, detail oriented professional with 4 years of related industrial hygiene work experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Health and Safety, and 2 years work experience in or around hydrocarbon facilities. Prior experience working on the North Slope is preferred, but not required.
Our Industrial Hygienists:
Conduct hazard evaluations and exposure assessments
Provide recommendations to prevent exposure to chemical and physical agents
Develop, implement and maintain occupational hygiene programs
Track, evaluate and maintain industrial hygiene testing equipment
Develop, deliver and/or sponsor occupational health and hygiene training
Maintain industrial hygiene recordkeeping systems in a complete, auditable format
Provides written compliance reports to agencies; represents CH2M during agency inspections; maintains working relationships with state and federal agencies
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Four years of related industrial hygiene work experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental, Health & Safety, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
Four years work experience with Office Suite programs (i.e. Word, Excel, & Outlook)
Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured for driving company vehicles (applicants must provide a five-year DMV record at the time of application)
Knowledge of principles and practices of industrial safety
Knowledge of OSHA and General Industry Safety Standards
Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations including generation, testing, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
Knowledge of industrial hygiene testing equipment, sampling media use, and laboratory submittal processes
Ability to develop and implement exposure assessment and control plans
Ability to apply the principles of industrial hygiene to include recognition, evaluation, and control of recognized hazards
Ability to conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and hazardous work materials to ensure compliance with industrial hygiene and safety standards
Ability to establish priorities for workload based upon such factors as need for immediate action, work objectives, work schedule, and knowledge of future needs
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others understand
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Oil & Gas experience
Master’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Safety and Health, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
