CH2M Groundwater Project Manager - Southern California in Santa Ana, California

CH2M is looking for a highly-motivated hydrogeologist to market and manage a variety of groundwater related projects in southern California. This position is focused on the development, leadership, and management of groundwater related projects that are aligned to strategic markets and underlying business objectives of the firm. The candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering multiple projects focusing on, or strongly related to, California groundwater resources, and will also assist with sales activities and help identify and develop new business opportunities. Our Groundwater Project Managers: • Possess strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments with varying degrees of direct and indirect project involvement.• Demonstrate the capability to manage and lead small to large sized projects of average complexity and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines to the satisfaction of the client.• Act as one of the company’s prime contacts with the client and be responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on the project. • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action.• Lead and coordinate activities with subcontractors as well as develop positive and productive working relationships with teaming partners and subcontractors.• Demonstrate ability to build new client relationships in the groundwater resources market and utilize existing client relationships to expand the scope of services provided.• Mentor and assist junior scientists and engineers.• Have strong written and oral communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.• Specific duties associated with this position include:

  • Leading business development activities with key clients resulting in acquisition of new projects. This could include client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, oral presentations, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes.

  • Leading and managing project teams through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout, consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget and other specified requirements stated in each contract.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology or water resources related engineering field • 10 years client and project management experience related to groundwater resources

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• M.S. degree in hydrogeology or water resources related engineering field.• PG or PE preferred (especially California-specific license)• PMP or equivalent preferred
