This Senior Transportation Construction Engineer will join our growing team in Virginia Beach office, but will spend the majority of their time working in the field at our client’s various transportation projects. Our construction management opportunities provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging transportation projects. You will utilize your knowledge of complex project delivery concepts, practices and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills and working knowledge of DOT construction processes will be valuable to this role. Our Senior Construction Engineer: • Provide overall construction management for assigned transportation projects. • Serve as primary liaison with the client’s construction management, operations, and construction staff and the general contractor. • Lead and manage the onsite Construction Inspection, as well as coordinate with office design engineers to respond to clarifications, perform technical submittal reviews, assess any change orders and similar activities. • Conduct site meetings, deal with Contractor(s) work progress, schedule reviews, and construction coordination, process monthly payment requests. • Ensure the orderly, efficient and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with requirements specified in the contract documents. • Perform onsite activities which may include construction coordination, inspection, field administration, procurement, and field engineering. • Are directly responsible for implementing Change Orders, and processing request for information on behalf of the Owner. • Complete the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client, while simultaneously ensuring that CH2M’s Health Safety & Environment, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met

The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline • A minimum of 10 to 15 years’ on-site experience on transportation or other related projects • Experience with the administrative, contractual, inspection, business aspects of the construction process within the transportation market • Work experience required with VDOT, work experience with other state DOT’s will be considered • Experience with owner and contractor interactions • Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling • Must be able to use of Microsoft Office, Primavera scheduling software, and ClaimDigger software • Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia, or ability to obtain reciprocity, candidates who have the ability to obtain professional registration within 6 months will be considered • Advanced degree in engineering disciplines • Certified Construction Manager certification from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) • Prior experience on large scale VDOT construction projects / D&B Projects is preferred.
