CH2M’s Virginia Beach office is seeking a high energy, team player to join us as a Senior Highways/Roadway Project Manager.

This opportunity is your chance to lead multi-disciplined transportation projects that focus on highway, roadway, and interchange projects and pursuits. You will be a Project Manager on large transportation projects throughout the Virginia geography and will be responsible for managing project teams to pursue work, perform preliminary and final design engineering and prepare documentation to satisfy the requirements for local and State roadway projects. In this position, you will have the opportunity to provide senior transportation engineering expertise, negotiate hours, develop and maintain schedules and budgets, direct and mentor project staff, and ensure quality reviews are completed. You will manage external client relationships as well as lead and participate in business development initiatives. You should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil/transportation engineering and 15-20 years’ experience in the transportation engineering field. Registration as a P.E. in the state of Virginia required. Prior experience on large scale VDOT projects / D&B Projects is preferred. As a Senior Highways/Roadway Project Manager you will be asked to: Manage Projects • Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project • Be responsible for communication, status reporting, decision making regarding technical approaches, risk management, and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved by the team. • Lead the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and organization of internal technical and support staff, and subcontractors for the project Mentor Staff • Lead, inspire and mentor staff and project teams. Mentor and assist junior engineers / design engineers in developing final design plans. Build Client Relationships • Focus on client service and satisfaction that leads to repeat business • Maintain a close relationship with clients, track upcoming project opportunities, and collaborate on project pursuits

The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil/transportation engineering • 15-20 years’ experience in the highways engineering design, design management and highways project management. • Registration as a P.E. in the state of Virginia • An experienced highways engineer having both design management & site management experience with good understanding of the design process.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• Prior experience on large scale VDOT projects / D&B projects • Strong technical design background in traffic engineering, highway design, and highway drainage, as well as familiarity with VDOT, AASHTO, FHWA and MUTCD standards • Knowledge of and prior experience of using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, AutoCAD, Civil3D) is desirable.
