CH2M’s Virginia Beach office is seeking a high energy, team player to join us as a Transportation/Traffic Engineer.

As a Transportation/Traffic Engineer this is your chance to work with an energetic and collaborative team on complex transportation projects that focus on traffic operations, transportation planning and traffic design for urban arterials and intersections, freeways, ports, and transit facilities. Working with other members of our team, you will have the opportunity to provide transportation engineering and planning expertise and manage projects and project tasks, schedules, budgets and deliverables. During out time with us you will also have the opportunity to assist in the presentation of results to external clients and stakeholders. The candidate should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering, transportation planning, urban planning, or a related field and 8-12 years of experience in the transportation planning and/or traffic engineering field. Registration as a P.E. / PTOE. is required. As a Transportation/Traffic Engineer you will be asked to: • Demonstrate successful leadership and delegation in a working team environment, as task lead, deputy project manager, or project manager • Communicate effectively verbally and have strong writing abilities • Collaborate successfully with colleagues and clients • Use your technical skills in traffic analysis and modeling, transportation planning, and/or traffic engineering on a variety of projects • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance • Maintain a close relationship with clients and track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits

The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering • A minimum of 8-12 years of experience in the transportation planning and/or traffic engineering field • Registration as a P.E. / PTOE • Experience in traffic operational analysis, transportation planning, and/or travel demand modeling principles • Technical skills in traffic analysis and modeling • Demonstrated success leading and working in a team environment • Excellent written and oral presentation skills • Strong data analysis skills, technical problem solving skills, effective organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Access

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:• Experience in a variety of travel demand modeling software packages, such as VISUM, TransCAD, and EMME • Experience in a variety of multi-modal transportation study and traffic design, including arterial and freeway traffic analysis, conceptual planning design, transit planning, and/or non-motorized planning • Experience developing Interchange Modification/Justification Reports (IMR/IJR) including operational and traffic analysis for state DOTs. • Experience developing Traffic Management Plans, Traffic Engineering Plans and conducting associated analysis. • Experience with computer programming, GIS, or transportation planning/traffic operations software (Synchro, CORSIM, VISSIM, or HCS) • Task lead, deputy project management, or project management experience
