As the Vehicle Engineer in Boston, MA you will have the chance to provide engineering support for a variety of new technology vehicle projects. Working with other members of our team, you’ll support new battery technology research, vehicle field testing / evaluation, reliability assessments, life cycle cost and specification development. During your time with us, you will also work on projects that will include the procurement of new or overhauled transit vehicles and related projects with a focus on electric propulsion systems, battery powered vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and other emerging technologies. You will support office and field based activities, including: technology assessments, writing specifications, evaluating vendors, design reviews, troubleshooting and problem resolution, testing support, and failure investigations. You will monitor field implementation and testing activities for a range of transit vehicles. You will also support system integration of vehicle subsystems and complete vehicles from different suppliers for compatibility and functional performance. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • 1-3 years in with electric propulsion systems, energy storage / battery systems, or similar technology

  • 6-10 years experience in an engineering role

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with vehicle fleet procurement programs is desirable

  • Basic knowledge of transit vehicle industry standards, systems, and practices is preferred

  • Member of the American Society of Electrical Engineers or American Society of Mechanical Engineers

  • 1-3 years in with electric propulsion systems, energy storage / battery systems, or similar technology strongly preferred

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences are critical

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in vehicle propulsion emerging technologies
