We are offering this position to work on existing and upcoming highway projects in the Denver area. As a Drainage Engineer, you will have the opportunity to provide design expertise in a structured team framework, contributing to the drainage design and construction of the projects. Working with other members of our team, you will be involved in the technical project work, as well as project delivery and project management, communicating and coordinating with clients and stakeholders on scope and progress. During your time with us, you'll use your understanding of data analysis and your experience with technical drainage design to collaborate with design teams on large projects. Our Drainage Engineers: • Lead drainage teams in all aspects of drainage design, from concept planning and preliminary design to final design and construction • Are proficient in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using local entity approved design software, completing technical drainage studies, report writing, development of plans and specifications, and estimates & services during construction • Conduct calculations for ditches, channels, culverts, inlets, and storm drain systems • Are proficient in freeway, arterial roadway, and local street design projects, including preparation of complex grading plans, working with roadway designers and engineers • Are proficient in the development of horizontal and vertical alignments • Have extensive experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates for major interstate, expressway, arterial streets, local streets, and trail projects • Have an understanding of FHWA hydraulic engineering circulars • Perform work in hydraulic engineering, FEMA studies including CLOMR/LOMR, NPDES requirements, stream stabilization, and bridge scour • Have experience with utility coordination and stormwater management projects • Work within and support safety as a key metric of project success • Interact with project teams, sub-consultant teams, and client program level directors • Complete tasks as a member of multidisciplinary project teams, working independently with minimal day to day supervision • Direct your team’s work, develop & mentor junior staff, provide technical & quality guidance, and assist with management of projects
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• 5-10 years roadway and/or drainage design experience • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university • CO PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other commonly employed software • Detail oriented and project delivery focused • Ability to work in team environment to assemble calculations, plans, and specifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Experience on CDOT projects, Local Agency projects, and Design-Build projects• Utility coordination experience • Experience with 2D/3D hydrodynamic modeling• Strong proficiency with MicroStation • Experience with most and proficiency with some of the following software packages: • Inroads Storm and Sanitary • CulvertMaster • HEC-HMS • XPSWMM • HEC-RAS • GEOPAK Drainage • SRH-2D • StormCAD • Flowmaster • Arc GIS • HY-8 • AutoCAD • TR-55 • AutoCAD Civil3D
