As the Project Engineer of Rail Vehicle Components Overhaul and Decommissioning you will support LA Metro's Project Manager in the execution of various projects as assigned. Working with other members of our team, projects may include assessment of existing and new and component overhaul programs, material planning, scheduling, vendor communications, inventory tracking, and other duties as assigned. Basic Responsibilities:

Daily interaction and communications with the project manager rail fleet management and maintenance staff to include contract administration, buyers, vendors and the vehicle engineering department as required. Monthly progress reporting, updating the production schedule. Meetings and vendor site visits.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Discipline

  • 5-10 years of experience in rail vehicle maintenance or engineering

  • Ideal candidates should have transit agency, consulting firm or train manufacturing experience

  • Knowledge of Metro’s rail car fleets

  • Knowledge of rail vehicle maintenance principles, component overhaul of mechanical / electrical / electronic systems Component Overhaul program planning, production, and scheduling Fleet Decommissioning and retirement programming

  • Maintenance shop analysis and work flow production

  • Reports and Power Point Presentations

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • PE (Not Required)

  • LA Metro experience

  • Members of ASME, IEEE, or NSPE
